I'm lucky that UC San Diego is ten minutes away from the beach. The ocean, the remarkably soft sand (somehow softer here than at home), and the aggressive seagulls are only a few bus stops away. In September, I joked to my parents that the beach would become my new dorm and that I would regularly take trips down to the shore to sleep and do homework. Summer Sabrina grossly overestimated my ability to self-motivate and, unsurprisingly, I didn't step foot on a beach during first quarter. So, at the tail-end of winter, my roommates and I decided to take a day trip to La Jolla Shores to relax and bond. We took photos, ran around in the water, complained about birds, and de-stressed after peak midterm season. I may- once again- be overestimating my personal drive to leave campus, but I think the beach and I won't be strangers for much longer. In retrospect, I would've been better off with a more low maintenance outfit for the beach. But it's all good. I can (and probably will) just wear this outfit to class when the weather gets a little warmer. I styled my denim culotte overalls and crochet off the shoulder blouse over a floral bikini top and pair of black high-waisted bottoms. I tied my hair into a low pony and secured it using a navy blue bandana to elevate my look while keeping my hair out of my face. The white detailing on my bandana and on the rims of my aviators paired nicely against the blue tones of the denim. Finally, I topped the look off with embroidered mules to add a pop of pattern. Millennial Pink is Barbie Pink's baby sister. Fresher, lighter, younger. Millennial Pink embodies a lighthearted optimism reminiscent of simple pleasures, like toasted sheets on a cold morning or the faint twinkle of stars on a cloudless night. Millennial Pink has the boldness of a red, but the cleanliness of a white. Millennial Pink symbolizes effortless cool and youthful sophistication. From workout clothes to rose gold iPhones, its not hard to see that Millennial Pink is saturating the trendy fashion and lifestyle markets. And as its popularity rose, my closet was not left unchanged. The damage is clear: jackets and sneakers and t-shirts and dresses, all tinted with Millennial Pink. Each piece brings me one step closer to being Elle Woods and I welcome the change with open arms. The extent to which I have bought into this trend may also be telling of a shopping problem, but that's a discussion for another time. All I know is that I'm seeing the world through rose-colored glasses and, man, is it pretty. The newest addition to my collection is this windbreaker-esque bomber jacket from Free People. Millennial Pink pairs nicely with both black and white so I styled my jacket with a monochrome swing dress. I tied a piece of suede cording into a choker and layered it with a delicate gold fox necklace; the two pieces balance edginess and femininity quite nicely. I topped off the look with my ever-so-convenient leather velcro sneakers. Outfit Details:

And as enjoyable as these hangouts are, it's important to dedicate some one-on-one time to those that you hold the closest. So, Hannah and I planned a day outing to Downtown Disney (home to several of her favorite spots) to explore, eat, and catch up. Luckily, we went just before the holiday decorations were taken down so the whole street was still filled with an unmistakable energy as jazzy Christmas remixes played over the speakers. We first shared a juice and burger at Trader Sam's (Joe is not pleased by the name), a tiki themed bar and restaurant. Disneyland has an uncanny ability to entice unwitting customers into buying an experience and it completely works because Hannah and I LOVED Trader Sam's. Ordering certain drinks triggers set light and sound cues that simulate island-related events, like an erupting volcano or a sinking ship. Once we were comfortably full, we walked around the shops at Downtown Disney and visited the Grand Californian (the backdrop of Hannah's photos). We finished off our Disney date by sharing a delicious chocolate shake at Cafe Uva. I included my favorite pictures from the day below! slouchy sweater + skater skirt + knee high socksHannah's outfit epitomizes Southern California winter style: covered without being over-layered. She wore her staple grey cotton sweater and black skater skirt and then rolled up her sleeves to add texture. Her matching knee high socks and booties streamline her figure and give the illusion of a taller frame. This monochrome look is effortlessly casual and perfect for a casual day outing like our Downtown Disney date. Hannah loves to rock daring makeup looks, this time opting for a black and grey winged smokey eye (using the Urban Decay Smoky Palette that she swears by), bold lashes, and a bright red lip. I built this look on my daily uniform, boyfriend jeans and a ribbed turtleneck sweater, by adding a statement longline vest. This piece has admittedly been a struggle to style in the past because of its overly boxy fit (I blame the shoulder pads), but I made it work by pairing it over a form-fitting top that highlights my figure. The bright copper fabric adds a pop of color against a neutral color scheme and its glossy satin panels add texture to an otherwise basic outfit. I topped off the outfit with a simple black belt, a two-tone box purse, and my "stomping" boots with a chunky silver heel. My makeup look was rather simple. I used my go-to Morphe 35F palette to do a gold and burnt orange eyeshadow look with a slight shimmer and used Urban Decay's liquid lipstick in "Amulet" for a matte nude lip. Outfit Details:

I decided to put my money where my mouth is and style an outfit using only secondhand items and this was the result! (I ended up going $1 over budget, but I'm still proud of what I was able to put together!) I centered my look around this GORGEOUS vintage navy jacket with a shiny finish. The silhouette is simple, but the material gives it a real futuristic vibe. I kept the rest of my look streamlined with a basic backless halter top and an American Apparel-esque tennis skirt. I added a black and grey Steven Madden backpack with silver clasp details to finish off the look. I styled this thrifted outfit with a pair of creepers and sheer socks from my own closet. This outfit has become one of my summer uniforms. It's comfortable, it's trendy, it's light, and best of all, I can throw it on with no fuss. I alternate my accessories and shoes based on my mood and how tired my feet are that day, but the silhouette doesn't change. Summer is the season for cropping it like it's hot. I usually like balancing out crop tops with high-waisted bottoms, so I styled my denim tank top with these wide leg cropped jeans. The cinching at the bottom of the shirt accentuates my waist and the floral embroidery on the jeans adds a pop of color to the look. Quick tip for all my fellow short gals: cropped jeans create the illusion of longer legs. I normally need to cuff or alter my jeans so that they don't drag, so pants that come pre-cropped save me a trip to the cleaners. I prefer jeans that hit near the bottom of my calf and are either wide-legged for flare. When paired with my lace-up heeled sandals, these jeans are my secret to looking taller than I am. I kept my accessories simple and muted. I styled the look with a rose gold watch, a black and white ring set, and dainty fox necklace. My leather Michael Kors backpack is equal parts practical and stylish. FACEI personally prefer to stay away from very heavy face make up, especially in the summer when I don't want to worry about touch-ups after hours of oils and sweat. Before putting on makeup, I prep my skin using Urban Decay's Complexion Prep Spray. I always finding myself reaching for the Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream (light/medium) because of its quick, sheer coverage. If you're looking for a light foundation with a little more color, and a glossy finish I would recommend the Covergirl Clean Foundation (520 creamy natural). I give my problem areas a little extra attention using the Laura Geller Baked Radiance Cream Concealer (medium) and set my base using the Revlon Nearly Naked Pressed Powder (light). I add some color to my face using the cult favorite NYC Sunny bronzer and dab on the NYX Liquid Illuminator in Gleam. EYESI first prep my eyes using the Urban Decay primer potion because it keeps my oily eyelids under control no matter how hot it gets. I used the Morphe 35F Fall into Frost palette for my entire look. I love the highly pigmented warm copper tones and the wide range of colors are great for experimenting with different looks. I start off with blending two gold shades (1) and pressing them onto the center of my lid with a flat brush. I add a pop of color using a shimmery light maroon (2) to the outer V of my eye. I then blend a light matte copper shade into my crease and halfway across the lid to soften the edge of my eyeshadow (3). I deepen my crease by placing a small amount of a matte dark copper color (4) into the corner of my eye and blending outwards. To finish off my eyeshadow, I highlight the inner corner of my eye using a light champagne color (5). I top off the look with my signature winged eyeliner using Tarte's Lights, Camera, Lashes Precision Liner. LIPSThe phrase "flower power" originated in the late 60's and early 70's as a symbol of passivity and peace in the face of needless war. It then transformed into a representation of hippie culture and those who would don bright colors and bold floral prints to protest a system that they believed to be unfair. But above all, the flowers served as a reminder to be peaceful and compassionate. In the modern age of political and social unrest, it is important to remember that using hate to fight against hate is futile. We can rarely control the situations we as a society find ourselves in, but we can choose to rise above the negativity and be strong united against adversity. Yet peace cannot be mistaken for complacency. Most recently, the DACA program created to grant undocumented children the right to get a work permit, go to school, and stay in the U.S. has been rescinded. Education is a basic right and no child should be labelled undeserving simply because of his or her immigration status. You can do your part by texting RESIST to 50409 to easily fax a letter to your senator. We must continue to stand by the dreamers and use our voice to resist. I used the concept of flower power was my source of inspiration for this photoshoot. As much as I enjoy getting boba and chilling at the town center, I had been itching to experience somewhere new for a while. And though I've lived in LA for almost my entire life, I'd never been to Venice Beach. Hannah and I decided to spend a day walking along the beach, browsing beachside storefronts, and eating some very expensive- but aesthetically pleasing- food. I knew a day by the beach would mean LOTS of walking, so comfort was key. I chose loose pieces with light, breathable fabrics to keep me cool. I knew I would have to break the tight and loose fit combo rule so I played with different textures to keep the look interesting. My tank top was made of a semi-sheer material with off-white floral embroidery throughout; the looped fringing on the hem added some movement to the top. These satin elephant-print bottoms are as comfortable as pajamas so they're perfect for summer. I topped off the outfit with the matching cystral necklace that Hannah and I purchased from a street vendor on the beach and my basic heeled sandals. Outfit Details: Fringe Tank Top: Topshop Satin Wide Leg Pants: Forever 21 Crystal Necklace Heeled Sandals: Target Hannah also kept her outfit loose and comfortable, styling a trendy wrap tank top with a pair of black shorts. The floral print of the top and the crochet hem on the bottom of the shorts add a feminine flair to the look. She layered her signature dragon boat necklace with our matching crystal one and used her black leather crossbody purse. For makeup, Hannah went for a neutral eyeshadow look with a pop of purple to bring out the color in her shirt and a bold red lip. But there's nothing wrong with upgrading this classic look to match your personal style. On a recent outing to downtown Los Angeles, Sarah and I showed off our takes on this signature ensemble while incorporating one of summer's hottest trends: bandanas. RUFFLE TANK + BOYFRIEND JEANSMy trusty boyfriend jeans have been a wardrobe staple for me in 2017. I love pairing them with feminine pieces to balance out the more masculine baggy fit. I usually spend the day with my family eating BBQ, enjoying the fireworks, or marathoning some movies. This year, I switched things up a bit and planned a day outing with one of my best friends. Hannah and I celebrated the fourth of July in style with a picnic in the park, a couple hours relaxing on the Belmont shores, and the Cerritos fireworks. We wanted to be patriotic without opting for the typical gaudy flag-print ensemble, so we stuck to maroon pieces and stripe prints. Let's take a look! OFF THE SHOULDER + STRIPESThis summer, I've been wearing the heck out of this maroon off the shoulder top. I absolutely love the loose fit and the thin white stripes seemed fitting for Independence Day. I styled the top with a pair of high-waisted black shorts and trendy lace-up sandals.
